On Thursday, 24 May 2018, a soft opening event occurred to only allow restricted access to those working on the activities happening on the island, one of them being Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd who are one of the first tenants of PMB island.
The soft opening commenced with a recital of Doa Selamat and was attended by PMB Bridge Technical Committee members which included: Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development and the Chairperson of the Committee, Yang Mulia Dr Nor Imtihan Binti Haji Abdul Razak; Director General of Public Works Department at the Ministry of Development, Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria; and Representative of Chief Executive of Brunei Darussalam Marine and Ports Authority, Captain Basza Alexander bin Haji Basri.
